Hip / Upper Leg

Hip / Upper Leg

Hip pain refers to the pelvic region. The pelvis consists of a pair of innominate bones; sacrum and coccyx. The innominate bone consists of three fused components known as the Ilium, Ischium and Pubis.

Pain in the pelvic region itself can be caused by a sudden trauma such as a fall or related to a type of arthritis. There are also a number of structures within the lower back and buttocks that can refer pain to the pelvic region.

A number of muscular attachment points especially within the Quadricep and Hamstring complexes can also lead to pain within the pelvic region.

“If pain continues to persist after a few days or weeks, or for more serious injuries, it is best to see a health care professional to advise you further on appropriate rehabilitation.”
