Electrotherapy
Electrotherapy
One of the most common electrotherapy treatments, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS). Makes use of small devices that sent out of electrodes electrical impulses. These signals then block or interfere with the body’s pain signals, leading to reduced pain. It helps release endorphins that naturally decrease pain in the body.
Interferential electrotherapy also known as IFT uses a low frequency electrical stimulation. It can also be used to stimulate targeted muscle tissue to contract to reduce atrophy, reduce pain and increase blood flow.
The main benefits of using Electrotherapy are:
– Reduces nerve pain
– Promotes healing of musculoskeletal injuries
– Has a non-invasive, drug free pain control
– Prevents muscle atrophy
– Increases circulation for wound repair
– Has minimal to no side effects
