Elbow Pain

Elbow Pain

The elbow is a hinge joint where the Humerus bone meets the Ulna and Radius, allowing your arm to bend. Gradual onset of elbow pain is most often caused by a repetitive movement of the arm, wrist or hand.

The most common overuse injury at the elbow is lateral epicondylitis more commonly known as ‘Tennis elbow’, that is an irritation of the tendon/bone junction on the outside of the elbow.

A similar injury can occur on the inside of the elbow called medial epicondylitis, which is more commonly referred to as ‘Golfers elbow’.

An acute onset is most often caused by a direct blow or fall onto the arm that can potentially lead to boney injury, ligament damage or bursitis.

“If pain continues to persist after a few days or weeks, or for more serious injuries, it is best to see a health care professional to advise you further on appropriate rehabilitation.”
