Neck Pain

Neck Pain

Neck pain refers to the cervical region of the spine, consisting of seven vertebrae along with their associated structures. Neck pain can either have an insidious onset, or present quite suddenly at times. It can correlate with headaches, which in turn can have a detrimental affect on your sleep and concentration levels; leaving you feeling exhausted and frustrated.

There are a number of factors that can contribute to neck pain and headaches and the longer the pain has persisted the more of these factors are generally contributing.

Factors impacting on the cervical region include poor posture, repetitive movements, increased levels of stress, muscle imbalances and or weaknesses, chronic soft tissue changes or trauma.

Structures that can be involved with neck pain could simply be down to muscular tension, however damage at the joint level, the integrity of discs and or nerves can also be a consideration.

“If pain continues to persist after a few days or weeks, or for more serious injuries, it is best to see a health care professional to advise you further on appropriate rehabilitation.”
